[Everyone knows it's unwise to go into the Dungeon alone, it's practically suicide the deeper you go, but Ochako has a job to do!! Her usual adventuring party was off doing other things on the surface, and they did try to talk her out of going in by herself (very vehemently, aside from maybe one or two who knew how tough she was despite her rather plush, cute, and friendly exterior), but she is...a bit stubborn. However!! The research she's doing on the flora and fauna found in each level of the dungeon would benefit everybody - explorers, scholars, adventurers, and even magic users like herself. Hell, even herbalists and apothecaries may make use of her research, if some of the plants and monsters' parts could be used as medicine.
So, into Dungeon she goes!! The first few levels are nothing - her combat skills she learned from that barbarian prince Bakugou served her incredibly well to manage her mana levels - and the deeper in...her magic could take care of the larger and stronger monsters. However, trekking by oneself is...difficult. Very difficult, and Ochako is really starting to feel worn down by the time she reaches the third level of the Dungeon. She's made herself a little camp, looking through her pack as a fire nearby starts to smoke and crackle.]
Mmh...I know I had packed some rice with me... Water won't be an issue so long as I can boil out the impurities, and I did manage to forage in the upper levels a bit--ah! That's right, I need to update my field notes...
[Waving her hands, the tips of her fingers glow pink and a leatherbound book, quill, and inkpot levitates from another of her bags, smeller than the first, and starts to write what she says, as the little mage busies her hands with prepping the fire, gathering water, cleaning the edible plants she gathered, and just looking over her supplies.]
I think this ought to make a simple vegetable soup... Eh, or I could try setting a few fish traps and nets. Hopefully no mermen destroy them this time around...
[ Ochako's usual party were right, it is dangerous to adventure in the dungeon alone, then again, if she's as tough as she is, and Senshi wouldn't doubt it- just because something is cute and sweet doesn't mean it couldn't kill you in a heartbeat! Take the Oleander flower, for example; beautiful and fragrant, has pretty salver-shaped petals, and smells just delightful! But if you come into skin contact with parts some of the milky juice and even parts of the petal and stem, it can be fatal! So yes, Ochako might be more deadly than she looked.
Ah, but then again, she might not have the smarts to survive a dungeon such as this the deeper she goes, if she's going to make rookie mistakes such as building a fire where there's an active Salamander neat nearby...
The Dwarf had been fixing up supplies for his own meal that night when the smell of her fire and the sound of her talking to herself drew him in. He'd set some glue traps along the way so as to put off any curious Salamanders that were also drawn in by Ochako's mind disturbance to the natural ecosystem down here. Stopped beside a broken tree stump, Senshi waited until she might have been looking in his direction inside of trying to catch her eye.
Standing there, staring with that intense look in his eyes as slowly but surely he moved in closer, step by step, each time she looked away. ]
[She certainly has the color of an oleander flower, for sure! Blush pink with her little hood, and some darker parts as well. She's obviously dressed down somewhat as she's set up her little camp, and will roll out her bedroll and put up her spell wards (as well as some gnarly smelling dried herbs she keeps in a jar) to deter any monsters from thinking about ambushing her as she sleeps, but...neither really do too much against people with ill intentions. She's thankfully not come across those types very much - the corrupt corpse hunters - but she certainly knows how to deal with their ilk.
Hence why, as Senshi approaches, she doesn't strike right away, but her humming does get a little slower and less melodic. She can sense he's coming closer, and definitely trying to keep out of sight instead of announcing himself like a normal adventurer would. She's not exactly being quiet, after all... So, just as he's within striking distance, she whirls around and takes a well aimed swing at him - not with her magic, nor even her staff, but her fist.
YOU PICKED THE WRONG MAGE TO MESS WITH, ASSHOLE, SHE MULTICLASSED IN MONK.]
[ It's the first thing he thought of upon seeing her, honestly. Maybe that's why he's taking precautions and sneaking in, rather than charging in, head full of steam. The little off-smelling herbs don't do much to deter Senshi, after all, he probably smells just as bad... Come to think of it, when was the last time he took a bath? And as for the warding spells? Yeah, he's going to avoid them, doesn't really care for magic all that much thank you very much.
Senshi isn't a normal adventurer though, is he? Most leave the Dungeon proper once they run out of food and coin, but not this Dwarf! In fact, Senshi tries his hardest to return to the surface only if he really needs to. He wasn't just surviving in those lower levels, he was thriving down there.
Still, he should have known better than to sneak up on someone clearly as well prepared as she was. So, at the last moment, he tilted his head and raised his cooking pan shield, making sure that perfectly executed karate chop, landed a blow on that and not his face. ]
Cripes! You could've almost hit me, young miss. You should really watch where you're throwing those hands of yours.
Toxic plants are so cool though...monkshood is also VERY yikes
[It's a marvel Ochako didn't smell Senshi before she heard and sensed him, but then again...she did have some preventive herbs to keep monsters away, and a few of the things she has samples of to take back for study were...kind of on the nastier side, too. Her friends definitely don't like it, but her research into the flora and fauna of the dungeon is important to her, so they endure all the ickyness.
Her fist collides with the wok and a horrible pain shoots up from her knuckles all the way to her elbow, pins and needles making Ochako grit her teeth and reel back, squeaking with pain. Good lord that smarts!! What sort of metal is that thing made of?! Definitely not the usual iron... That hurts, but this is something else completely.]
Ow, ow, ow... You snuck up on me!! Sir, I thought you might have been a bandit! You're lucky I didn't use any magic on you! [She still might...Ochako's one hand is aching, and she doesn't know this guy, or trust him just yet. Using her good hand, Ochako produces a jar or some sort of greenish-yellow liquid drops a tiny bit onto her knuckles - literally three drops only - then recorks the bottle and massages the oily liquid tenderly into her skin.]
[ Maybe Senshi survived as long as he had down here because he smelt so bad? After all, what creature in its right mind would want to eat something that stunk like him?!
It's a very special kind of wok indeed, Senshi's prized possession, seen him through some thought times. Be it helping him cook a meal, gather water, protect him from attacks, or letting him traverse some of the rapids in the rivers down here, that wok is pretty much a lifesaver. ]
Sorry about that, but I couldn't let your fist meet with my face. That could have hurt. By the sounds of it, you really packed a punch.
[ The din that resonated through the dungeon from the impact was pretty loud. She could have knocked him out cold! Still, not so much as a dint on his pan. Shame he can't say the same for her poor knuckles. ]
Nope, not a bandit, just a concerned dungeon dweller who spotted a fire in an area you really don't want to be listing fires.
[ Ugh magic. He'd rather not. Not a big fan of magic, he watches in silence as she tends to her hand, noting the strong ingredients and wondering what she got them from or how she made them. ]
It's definitely a multi-purpose tool for sure, and Ochako is regretting not using her magic instead. She could probably gather enough materials to restore at least a little of her mana, though the trek back to the upper levels would be obnoxious... Ah well, she can deal with some pain for a little bit, and the numbing effect of other gathered, uh...items is good enough for now.
Wrapping her poor hand with some cloth, Ochako tries to move her fingers, wincing slightly at the pain, but thankful that the numbing effect is already taking effect so quickly. Megarachne venom (diluted down twentyfold, of course) really is a hell of a painkiller...but any more than one drop per area of effect may cause permanent paralysis. She has to work the formula even more for a proper ointment to be made, but this works in a pinch.]
I was trained in hand-to-hand by the strongest people I know. They told me 'if your body is a weapon, then you won't always need to rely on a sword, or magic, to survive'. And considering how dangerous it is the deeper into the dungeon you ge--...eh, w-wait...what about my fire?
[She actually looks back to where said fire is crackling and popping away. Ochako was letting it burn through the wood so the heat would die down enough to start cooking some of what she foraged. There's nothing worse than trying to cook rice and the heat is too much and it burns...or turns into a gloopy mess than sticks to the bottom of the pan.]
[ Forgive the slowness of his reply, Senshi isn't very good with technology. ]
That's right. I am Senshi. So you are a friend of Izutsumi? She said I could cook really well? That is sweet of her. Considering she hardly ever touches her vegetables when I make them. But I digress. Yes, yes I can cook. Would you like something made miss?
lmk if this starter works!!!
